Wallace’s 64 marks his lowest on the PGA Tour as he searches for his first win stateside. He’s a four-time winner on the European Tour.

Villegas, whose last win came at the 2014 Wyndham Championship, later joined Wallace at 6-under by birdieing his final hole of the day.

Defending Champion

In 2019, Matthew Wolff climbed the 3M Open leaderboard and asserted his career PGA Tour victory. Wolff, who recorded a second-place finish earlier this month at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, is, thinking back within the 2020 3M Open field to defend his title this week.

Tommy Fleetwood will make his first start on the PGA Tour in four months at this current week’s 3M Open, after having come back to the US for just because since the tour resumed play. Fleetwood will join Paul Casey, defending tournament champion Matthew Wolff and Gordon during a competition dubbed the 3M Open Compass Challenge.

Weather Forecast for Blaine, MN

While the players will enjoy mostly sunny conditions in Blaine, the presence of a robust wind looks fairly consistent throughout the week.

Aside from a spot of rain on Friday, consistent with the forecast, it’ll be sunny and cloudy throughout the four days with temperatures starting from 84°F to 93°F.

But it’s the wind that’s the foremost interesting. That would reach speeds of the maximum amount as 20 mph on Friday consistent with the first forecast, with a rolling average of around 14 mph throughout the week.

2020 3M Open rankings: Top 10 picks

1. Tony Finau

During a tournament with some defeated (or previously absent) top names, big fella Finau is perhaps best positioned to drive it everywhere TPC Twin Cities and score.

2. Matthew Wolff

The defending champ is coming off a solid T22 at Muirfield Village where all parts of his game looked remarkable.

3. Dustin Johnson

DJ shot 80-80 last week. His short memory is apparently his greatest asset.

4. Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood hasn’t played within the in the resumption of professional golf. This may really be something thing given how many of the bigger names this week are damaged.

5. Brendon Todd

We prefer Todd this week, in large part, because he’s been more solid than others. He let the Travelers slip away, but he’s still notching good finishes within the restart.

6. Brooks Koepka

The knee clearly isn’t that good. There’s still something wrong. Can he take a couple of days easy then begin and lightweight it up?

7. Harris English

Harris English has been strong in his last two beginnings, and his T-13 at Memorial was amazing in his return from coronavirus.

8. Russell Henley

Henley’s been playing quite well recently and made two of three cuts in the restart. He was T-7 within the Workday.

9- Paul Casey

Casey has played twice in the restart, and he missed the cut a week ago after a T-32 at Travelers. Difficult to have a perspective on him this week, however, he’s ranked higher within the OWGR which is as it should be.

10- Sam Burns

The 23-year-old had been in the best 30 in his last three beginnings, including a T-17 at the Workday.

Justin Thomas

Young Justin Thomas Wins the Trophy of WGC – FedEx St. Jude Invitational

What an outstanding weekend has been finished with the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational held at Memphis, Tennessee, TPC Southwind. The name of many great players reminded at the top for the first three days/round but Justin Thomas played such a great game on the last day and wins the trophy of WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational as well as a bank over $1.8 million.

Fire Ants? Fire Ants.

Bryson DeChambeau opened with a 67, yet it’s his drop on the seventh hole that we’ll recall. His drive stopped against certain sticks left of the fairway, and he seemed to believe that he was entitled to relief because there have been fire ants near his ball. No seriously. Fire ants. Also, they were around five feet from his stance!

Fortunately, PGA Tour rules official Ken Tackett (whom you’ll remember because the second rules official from the Fence Incident at Muirfield Village) was having none of it. DeChambeau played the ball because it lay and aroused with a double-bogey six. Let us take you to the recap of the whole round.

Here’s how the top of the leaderboard stands after Round 1

Round 1 Thursday 30 July 2020

Brooks Koepka -8

A very familiar name at the highest of the leaderboard after the first round of the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Defending champ Brooks Koepka posted an 8-under 62 within the first round.

Koepka seeking after an extremely solid completion here in Memphis. He has struggled for the current year on the PGA tour with just one top 10 finish this year. However, he enjoys TPC Southwind and knows about the course.

He shot 2-under during his front nine. He shot 3-over on his back, double-bogeying the 2nd and bogeying the 5th and 7th, for a 1-over 71. Koepka wasn’t concerned. “I have 36 holes to go, man,” he said. “I ain’t stressed.”

Chez Reavie -7

Chez Reavie hit 12 of 14 fairways and 9 of 18 greens in regulation and completed the day Bogey-free 3-under. Reavie finished his day tied for 3rd at 7 under in the second round.

Round 3 Saturday 01 August 2020

The third round of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational was a wild, up-and-down Moving Day that resulted during a neatly separated leaderboard. Here’s how the top of the leaderboard stands after Day 3.

Brendon Todd -12

Brendon Todd signed for a 1-under 69 on Saturday to stay on top at WGC-FedEx St. Jude but saw his lead shrink to at least one shot with 18 holes remaining.

Todd made five birdies in Round 3, however, four bogeys kept him from building a bigger cushion in pursuit of his third victory this season. He won the Mayakoba Classic and Bermuda Championship in the fall of 2019.

Todd just hit half of his fairways at TPC Southwind during the third round, regardless of one among the foremost accurate drivers of the ball on Tour. He also ranks 75th within the driving distance out of a field of 78

Byeong Hun -11

Byeong Hun An leads the chase of Todd after posting 66 on Saturday. He poured in four straight birdies late within the round to make his climb the leaderboard. He hasn’t won on either the PGA Tour or European Tour since 2015 when he took the distinguished BMW PGA Championship.

Rickie Fowler -10

Rickie Fowler, who was alone in second after Round 2, did not structure any ground on moving day. He matched Todd’s performance with a three-birdie, two-bogey 69. Rickie Fowler completed his day tied for 3rd at 10 under in the third round.

Final Round Sunday 02 August 2020

Justin Thomas

He started the final round in fifth place. Never before has he won after starting the ultimate round so low on the leaderboard. He also trailed by four, matching the most important final-round deficit he’s overcome on the PGA TOUR.

The victory kept him on an elite pace. Since 1960, only Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have reached 13 wins at a younger age. Thomas is 27 years old. He shot 13-under 267 (66-70-66-65) for four rounds at TPC Southwind.

Thomas and Koepka, the past two winners of this event, had separated themselves from the sector at that time, but Thomas seemed to have the tournament in hand when Koepka’s own pitch to the 16th rolled over the green. The bogey gave Thomas a two-shot lead.

Tom Lewis

Tom Lewis hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation and completing at 10 under for the tournament. He completed his day tied for 2nd at 10 under with Daniel Berger, Brooks Koepka, and Phil Mickelson, he got $695,000.

PGA Championship 2020

2020 PGA Championship Picks and Odds

The first major championship of the adjusted 2020 calendar is finally here as the golf world turns its concentration toward the San Francisco area and TPC Harding Park for the 102nd PGA Championship. In a year where the Open Championship has chosen to take off and the Masters won’t cycle back around until November, the expectation for this return-to-August edition of the PGA Championship is at a fever pitch.

It will be held on August 6–9. PGA Championship 2020 prize made the event most expensive in golf tournament with $11 million purses. The champ got $1.98 million purse money and runner-up within the leader’s board earn ($1.18 million).

Defending Champion Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka enters the tournament as twice defending champion. If he wins, he will become only the second player to win three back to back titles after Walter Hagen. Walter Hagen won four in a row from 1924 to 1927.

Fact & Figure about TPC Harding Park

TPC Harding Park is a par 70 course set at 7,234 yards long. Located under 10 miles south of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Harding Park will depend intensely on the wind as its path of defense. Longer hitters will always have a plus but early indications from the grounds suggest the rough are going to be very punitive, which can place an outsized emphasis on finding fairways.

While TPC Harding Park never hosted a major championship before, the venue played home to the 2005 WGC-Championship won by Woods, the 2015 WGC-Match Play when McIlroy claimed victory, and therefore the 2009 Presidents Cup, where Tiger produced one among his most famous club twirls ever.

2020 PGA Championship Picks

Justin Thomas

Age: 27.
Country: US
World ranking: 1
Worldwide victories: 13
Majors: PGA Championship (2017)

PGA Championship memory: The embrace together with his father, head proficient, after winning the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in 2017.

Backspin: When he tied for eighteenth at the Memorial, it ended a peculiar streak of either finishing within the top 10 or missing the cut. Thomas has won in each of his six years on the PGA Tour, including Kapalua this year, and his victory WGC – FedEx St. Jude Invitational a week ago raised to No. 1 again. Inconsistency with the putter has been his biggest hurdle this year.

Brooks Koepka

Age: 30
Country: US
World ranking: 6
Worldwide victories: 10

Majors: U.S. Open (2017, 2018), PGA Championship (2018, 2019)

PGA Championship memory: The 4-iron into the sixteenth at Bellerive for birdie that effectively bound up an exciting back nine that prompted victory.

Backspin: nobody has ever won the PGA Championship three straight times in stoke play. He comes into this major with a left knee that also hurts and just two top 10s since last season finished. But he missed three months recovering from injury and three months due to the pandemic. But he tends to boost his game for the majors, and he indicated strong structure a week ago at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational, where he was runner-up.

Tiger Woods

Age: 44
Country: US
World ranking: 15
Worldwide victories: 82

Majors: Masters (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2019), U.S. Open (2000, 2002, 2008), British Open (2000, 2005, 2006), PGA Championship (1999, 2000, 2006, 2007).

PGA Championship memory: His 6-foot par putt on the 72nd hole in 2000 at Valhalla to urge into a playoff with Bob May, whom he beat for his third straight-consecutive major.

Backspin: The PGA Championship are going to be his fourth tournament of the year and not even Woods recognizes what to expect. He skipped three events before the pandemic-induced shutdown when his back did not feel right. It irritated him for one round at the Memorial. Woods succeeded at Harding Park during a playoff over John Daly in 2005.

Rory McIlroy

Age: 31
Country: Northern Ireland.
World ranking: 3
Worldwide victories: 26
Majors: U.S. Open (2011), British Open (2014), PGA Championship (2012, 2014)

PGA Championship memory: Setting the PGA Championship record for margin of victory together with his eight-shot win at Kiawah Island in 2012.

Backspin: He has the experience of having succeeded at Harding Park five years back in the Cadillac Match Play. But he has gone 19 majors since his fourth major title at the 2014 PGA Championship and aside from the 2018 British Open, he hasn’t been in serious contention on the back nine. He’ll be under greater scrutiny at the Masters going for the Grand Slam. But this major drought is turning into an issue.

Jon Rahm

Age: 25
Country: Spain
World ranking: 2
Worldwide victories: 10
Majors: None

PGA Championship memory: Posting all four rounds within the 60s in 2018 at Bellerive to tie for fourth.

Backspin: Of the six players who reached No. 1 within the world without having won a major Grand Slam, Ian Woosnam took care of that the quickest by winning the Masters following week. Rahm has won in each of his four full seasons since turning pro, however he has seriously flirted with major contention only at Bellerive two years ago. At 25, he’s too young to be the simplest without a major. But desires start now.

Dustin Johnson

Age: 36
Country: US
World ranking: 5
Worldwide victories: 22
Majors: U.S. Open (2016)

PGA Championship memory: Grounding his club in the sand that he didn’t understand was a bunker at Whistling Straits for a two-shot penalty that cost him a spot within the 2010 playoff.

Backspin: the best to never win a major is one list. Johnson is clearly on the head of the other list: the best to win just one. He turned 36 in June and is keen to feature his 2016 U.S. Open title. Coming off a victory within the Travelers Championship, he shot 80-80 at Memorial and pulled back after a 78 at the 3M Open.
